Never Back Down - Movie Review
Summary:
Joke De Jour - No Sheet?
5-year-old girl and some construction workers that will make you believe
that we all can make a difference when we give a child the gift of our
time.
A young family moved into a house, next to a vacant lot. One day, a
construction crew turned up to start building a house on the empty lot.
The young family's 5-year-old daughter naturally took an interest in all
the activity going on next door and spent much of each day observing the workers.
Eventually, the construction crew, all of them "gems-in-the-rough," more or less, adopted her as a kind of project mascot. They chatted with her, let her sit with them while they had coffee and lunch breaks, and gave her little jobs to do here and there to make her feel important.
At the end of the first week, they even presented her with a pay envelope
containing ten dollars. The little girl took this home to her mother who
suggested that she take her ten dollars "pay" she'd received to the bank
the next day to start a savings account.
When the girl and her mom got to the bank, the teller was equally impressed and asked the little girl how she had come by her very own pay check at such a young age. The little girl proudly replied,
"I worked last week with a real construction crew building the new house next door to us."
"Oh my goodness gracious," said the teller, "and will you be working on the house again this week, too?"
The little girl replied, "I will, if those
assholes at Home Depot ever deliver the sheet rock..."

Joke de Jour - He's My Brother
The man at the counter asked the older boy, "Son, how old are you?"
"Eight," the boy replied.
The man continued, "do you know what these are used for?"
The boy replied, "not exactly, but they aren't for me. They're for him. He's my brother. He's seven. We saw on TV that if you use these you would be able to swim and ride a bike. Right now, he can't do either."

- In the 1400's a law was set forth in England that a man was allowed to beat his wife with a stick no thicker than his thumb. Hence we have 'the rule of thumb.'
Many years ago in Scotland, a new game was invented. It was ruled 'Gentlemen Only...Ladies Forbidden'.. .and thus, the word GOLF entered into the English language.
The first couple to be shown in bed together on prime time TV was Fred and Wilma Flintstone.
If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle. If the horse has one front leg in the air, the person died because of wounds received in battle. If the horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes.

In English pubs, ale is ordered by pints and quarts... So in old England , when customers got unruly, the bartender would yell at them 'Mind your pints and quarts, and settle down.'
It's where we get the phrase 'mind your P's and Q's.'

Cohiba Siglo IV
Origin: | Cuba | Manufactured: Hand Made | |
Gauge: | Thick | Length: | 143 |
Format: | Corona Gorda | Ring: | 46 |
This cigar was introduced in November 1992 and introduced to the international market in 1994, commemorating the 500th anniversary of the arrival of Columbus to the New World. The Siglo series are said to be milder than the rest of the models from the Cuban brand, tasting all them very similar, with mild creamy sweetness, medium bean flavors and also medium tobacco taste.
KC and I got this special treat from his wife as she traveled abroad. We finally decided to celebrate his retirement with a "celebratory" cigar. These cigars have been aging in our humidor for over 9 months. When you smoke the cigar it dances on the taste buds, twirls on the tongue, pirouettes to its culmination in a sleek and all encompassing manner. There is grace in this stogie, not just in the intricate dance performed by the flavors, but in its design and construction. The wrapper hugs the binder and the bunch in a solid but liberating manner, the evenly spaced and weighted bunch has clear and generous suction.
Appearance: The construction is another trump card of this cigar.
Draw: Perfect draw all the way through.
Smoke: Excellent to fair amounts of smoke from beginning to end.
Burn: Consistant and excellent burn.
Flavor: Upon lighting, woody and grassy aromas steadily set in, these will be present during the hour that I usually need to smoke an excellent cigar (again, make sure you’re not in a hurry!). Unfortunately, the flavor is too monotonous to let me call this cigar "extraordinary", it’s just a excellent high-quality Habano that you can always count on! I expect it to age well.
Overall, I would give it a 93 out of 100. The cigar was excellent in all aspects with the exception of the lack of depth for flavor. The cigar is spicy but very monotonous from beginning to end, as noted above. The Cohiba Siglo IV cigar was enjoyed with a nice glass of Maker's Mark bourbon and Coke. Cuban cigars...."Smoke em' if you got em'!"
Golf and Swimming
On Sunday, the entire family got to enjoy the pool. It started off as a wonderful day. The entire family got to swim and had an enjoyable lunch on the picnic tables. We saw a few family friends that we had not seen since Las Vegas and dance nationals. Again, not many members at the pool or playing golf for that matter on a completely sunny day. Overall, I enjoyed my family, friends, and meal at DCC.

KC and I had this good cigar with a some beer (New Castle - excellent English beer!). I would only recommend this cigar for short occasions. What I could not get was the excellent draw in such a large ring guage? Effortless draw with huge smoke. I would give it an 87 out of 100. Nothing is wrong with the selection but it needed something extra (time, complexity, etc?). Next time I will try it with and fine bourbon! Again, I recommend it if you need a quick relaxing puff.
